Location:
Western Health, situated on the scenic west coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, is seeking the services of a Neurologist for Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a 171-bed regional referral center for Western Newfoundland and provides services to a population base of approximately 78,000 people. They are affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Faculty of Medicine and they encourage and support academic interests. Western Memorial Regional Hospital has a fully developed Stroke Unit, full Rehabilitation Services, Electrodiagnostics and is serviced by 3 CT scanners and 1 MRI scanner.
Remuneration: The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from $263,672.00 to $285,596.00
per annum as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The
Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial
Guidelines will officially determine a Physician’s step assignment with yearly
progression thereafter.
Hours of Work: 80 hours biweekly plus on-call obligations.
Incentives:

Signing Bonus of $100,000- $150,000 available in exchange for a return-in-service of 5 years, plus $25,000 as the position is considered “difficult to fill”.

An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA.

Geographic Retention Bonus – Retention package of $4,000 after the first year of service, $8,000 after 24 months, $12,000 after 36 months and $12,000 after every 12 months of service thereafter.

Relocation – $20,000 for transportation of furniture & household effects, $25,000 for costs associated with sale/purchase of principal residence, $3,000 to cover shipment of the vehicle(s); plus costs associated with movement of yourself and your dependents which includes transportation, accommodations, meals and temporary living expenses.
Qualifications:

Eligible for registration and licensure as a Neurologist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland (CPSNL)

Specialist training in Neurology

Royal College of Canada Certification or eligibility

MCCQE1 exam OR a complete set of USMLE’s

Or your training and certification is from an approved jurisdiction. Approved jurisdictions: Australia, United Kingdom, United States, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong and Switzerland.
