Internal Medicine Specialist
South-Eastern Ontario

Our client is seeking an internal medicine specialist to join a great collegial and supportive team! They have 135 acute medical beds and 23 ICU beds, a busy emergency room, full imaging support including nuclear medicine, a multi-slice CT scanner with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and an MRI. Members of the Department of Medicine and Critical Care work in a collegial atmosphere and include specialists in cardiology, critical care, general internal medicine, gastroenterology, nephrology, endocrinology and oncology.
Our client is a family of four hospitals that are working to “Create Healthier Communities Together”. The team of 2,600 staff and physicians provide care through four emergency departments, operating rooms at three hospitals, a rehabilitation day hospital, ambulatory care clinics, and a range of diagnostic services. There are more than 335 inpatient beds for acute medical patients, intensive care, obstetrics, paediatrics, mental health, complex continuing care, rehabilitation, and surgery. In addition, they are proud to operate a Children’s Treatment Centre and community mental health programs
Your Role:
As a general internist, the physician’s focus will be in coverage of the Internal Medicine Hospitalist service along with partaking in clinic duty for Acute internal medicine / stroke prevention. Physicians will be required to participate in the departmental on-call schedule as part of the departmental duty to cover for IM consultations to the ER department and for other services.
The Internal Medicine Hospitalist service acts as a clinical teaching unit with residents and two (2) Attendings, supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team including physician assistants. Additionally, Outpatient service is provided for referrals from ER and Inpatient units and is currently expanding.
Our client’s Health Department of Medicine and Critical Care operates in close conjunction with their tertiary partners. There will be opportunities for faculty appointment, resident supervision, and a variety of CME opportunities in conjunction with Queen’s University.
Qualifications:

Royal College certification in Internal Medicine

Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

US Board Certified Physician are eligible for independent license in Ontario

Excellent communication and team skills and demonstrated leadership potential will be an asset.
