CENTRAL
Contact: Natalie Nichols, Physician Recruitment Manager
Project Size & Scope
Central Health was the second-largest health authority in Newfoundland and Labrador, serving a population of approximately 94,000 residents across more than 176 communities in the central region of the province. Its network includes regional referral centers in Grand Falls-Windsor and Gander, along with multiple community hospitals, rural health centers, and long-term care facilities. To meet complex and diverse physician workforce needs, Central Health engaged CanAm under an agreement to recruit physicians across the full range of family physicians and specialties. This partnership required flexibility to support both hospital-based and community-based practices, while accounting for the logistical challenges of recruitment in rural and remote settings.
Experience & Timelines
CanAm has delivered full-cycle recruitment services for Central Health: targeted physician sourcing, in-depth screening, interviews, reference and credential checks, contract facilitation, and smooth handover to internal onboarding teams. Throughout, CanAm has maintained consistent communication with weekly progress updates, proactive outreach to candidates, and detailed documentation to support credentialing and College licensing requirements. This relationship allowed for a flow of candidates while minimizing administrative burden for Central Health’s recruitment team.
Client Satisfaction & Results
The physicians recruited by CanAm have been of consistently high caliber, well-suited to Central Health’s diverse practice environment. Candidate quality and professionalism have strengthened both specialty teams and family medicine coverage across the region.
CanAm’s responsiveness, transparent communication, and comprehensive approach have allowed Central Health to find candidates for difficult-to-recruit areas while maintaining full compliance with professional and governmental standards. Based on the scope of collaboration, the quality of results delivered, and the positive relationships established with both candidates and hospital teams, I would confidently recommend CanAm as a trusted recruitment partner.
