Opportunity Overview
CanAm Physician Recruiting is pleased to present a locum opportunity for a Family Medicine Obstetrics (FMOB) physician to provide one week of clinical and obstetrical coverage in Lindsay, Ontario.
This opportunity offers a manageable, low-volume obstetrical practice within a supportive community hospital setting, averaging approximately three deliveries per week. The successful physician will provide late-term prenatal clinic coverage, obstetrical call, newborn assessments, and attendance at scheduled and emergency Caesarean sections.
With specialist support available around the clock and accommodations provided, this is an excellent opportunity for an FMOB physician seeking flexible locum work in a community-based setting.
Clinical Responsibilities
1. Friday Prenatal Clinic
- Provide dedicated daytime clinic coverage on Friday.
- Assess and manage patients from the group's prenatal panel who are over 35 weeks gestation.
- Complete new intake assessments and provide ongoing care for patients already followed by the group.
2. Obstetrical Call Coverage
- Provide 24-hour on-call coverage from Friday at 8:00 AM until the following Friday at 8:00 AM.
- Provide obstetrical care at the Hospital throughout the coverage period.
3. Newborn Care and Caesarean Sections
- Assess and provide care for all newborns delivered by physicians during the locum week.
- Act as the designated newborn physician for all scheduled and emergency Caesarean sections during the coverage period.
4. Additional Clinical Opportunities
With advance notice, physicians may also have opportunities to participate in hospitalist services, emergency department coverage, after-hours clinics, and women's health clinics.
Compensation and Benefits

Guaranteed Hospital Stipend: $750 per day, paid directly by the hospital.

Accommodation: Fully covered local accommodations for the duration of the locum.

Fee-for-Service Billings: Retain 100% of eligible FFS clinic, hospital, and delivery billings, subject to applicable billing rules.

Clinical Support: 24/7 on-call backup from local Obstetricians and Gynecologists, anesthesia teams, and in-hospital respiratory therapy providers.

Streamlined Onboarding: Temporary, expedited hospital privileges will be facilitated by the hospital.
Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants must have:

An independent licence to practise family medicine with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).

Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.

Current ALARM certification or an accepted equivalent.
