Child & Youth Psychiatrist (Academic Center)

This prominent children's hospital in Ontario is seeking a General Child & Youth Psychiatrist (Outpatient) to join their team. Our client, a 150-bed pediatric hospital in Ottawa, ON, Canada is looking for a child and adolescent psychiatrist to provide care in one of their many inpatient programs.

Supported by multi-disciplinary care teams, which include clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, care coordinators, and nurses. The psychiatrist will  play a vital role in collaborating with the team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care, focusing on diagnostic clarification, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy to enhance patient outcomes. This position also involves teaching and scholarly activities, which are financially incentivized.

 

 Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments of children and youth

  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans based on thorough evaluations and evidence-based practices.

  • Provide ongoing psychiatric care, medication management, and therapeutic interventions for patients in the outpatient setting.

  • Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated and holistic care.

  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and contribute to the development of treatment strategies.

  • Contribute to research initiatives and quality improvement projects aimed at advancing pediatric mental healthcare.

 

Remuneration and Benefits:

  • This position will be well remunerated in alignment with other psychiatry positions at this location.

  • The position provides 6 weeks paid vacation;

  • 2 weeks paid conference time and protected time for academic work, quality improvement, and education. 

  • Annual financial support for continuing professional development and research grant support are available.

 

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree and specialized training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry

  • Certification or eligibility from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (eligibility must be approved jurisdiction route only) or American Board Certified. American Board Certified Psychiatrists are eligible for an independent license

  • Eligibility for licensure in Ontario and membership with  the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

  • Physician without Canadian or US certification with a strong academic background may be considered for this position
