Emergency Medicine  –  Multiple Locations

Physicians can enjoy comprehensive emergency medicine in several rural settings. The Hospital Emergency Departments vary in size and visits annually with 2 hour acute care services. The team includes highly trained and skilled nurses and support staff.

Lucrative financial incentives may be available for full-time work in the Emergency Department. 

The Hospitals are located in the beautiful towns with access to health care campuses, also long term care facilities, satellite dialysis clinic, public health office, CCAC, and Community Care. The  Hospitals offer the opportunity to educate and mentor medical students and residents from Queen's University and the University of Ottawa. Local secondary level hospitals in the region  offer excellent 24-hour support from internal medicine, intensive care, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, pediatrics, anesthesia, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, otolaryngology, and radiology. Tertiary care centers are located in Kingston, Toronto and Oshawa.

A variety of payment options are available for either full or part-time work. 

Requirements:

  • Certified Emergency Specialist or Family Physician Certified with 5+ years of full-time ER work in a rural/remote site OR CCFP-Em certification.

  • If interested, Family Physicians can also enjoy comprehensive rural medicine which may also include acute care inpatients, flexible call, community medicine, clinics, house calls, long term care, family health teams, family health network, and/or solo/group practice.

  • Applicants must be current with ACLS, ATLS, and PALS certifications.

  • Eligible for fully independent registration  with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).

    • Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCP(C)

    • US Board Certified Physicians are eligible for independent license in Ontario.
