Our client, a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Northern Ontario, is seeking full-time Emergency Medicine Physicians to join their dynamic team. Overview:

The Emergency Department at our client's district hospital attends to an average of 100-120 patients daily, totaling approximately 40,000 visits annually. They offer comprehensive community practice with access to most major specialties and access to imaging modalities such as MRI, CT and Nuclear Medicine. There is also opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

 

Remuneration:

  • Combination of hourly wage & Fee-for-Service.

  • Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan. 

Incentives:

  • Incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.

  • Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.

  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,718 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice.

Qualifications: 

  • Medical Degree with specialist training in Emergency Medicine.

  • Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Emergency Medicine OR  Certification in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP).CCFP-EM (preferred).

  • Physicians with Royal College Approved Jurisdiction eligibility eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO.

  • Physicians that have successfully completed the RCPSC specialty examination via the RCPSC Practice Eligibility Route and hold the MCCQE1 exam are eligible for a supervised license with the CPSO.

  • Eligible for independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario by:

           Hold American Board Certification in Emergency Medicine.

           Holding full license in another Canadian province.

           Have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada     
           certification in Emergency Medicine.

           Eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant
           Professor or higher.

  • Have, or be eligible to obtain Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.

  • Have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
