Overview
Our client is currently recruiting a full time General Surgeon.This full‑time role includes office practice, inpatient and outpatient care, elective surgeries, endoscopy, clinic time for minor procedures, and participation in the on‑call schedule. The successful candidate will join an established team of four general surgeons, with the opportunity to work within a collaborative group practice model that manages a wide range of surgical and endoscopic conditions.
They provide comprehensive acute, post‑acute, outpatient, and diagnostic services to a mixed urban and rural population of approximately 100,000 residents in the Upper Ottawa Valley. It is a full‑service, medium‑sized community hospital located 1.5 hours west of Ottawa and near Algonquin Park. Diagnostic capabilities include Nuclear Medicine, CT, and MRI. PRH is a designated District Stroke Centre and operates a busy emergency department with approximately 35,000 annual visits.
Inpatients are primarily managed by a dedicated hospitalist program. Full specialist support is available in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Critical Care, General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics, Urology, Ophthalmology, and Psychiatry.
Our client has a well-established referral protocol with local tertiary care centres in Ottawa.They regularly host third‑year medical students from the University of Ottawa for clerkship rotations and often welcomes surgical residents. Applicants are encouraged to apply for an Associate Lecturer appointment with the University of Ottawa.
Remuneration: Remuneration would be based on fee-for service.
Incentives: May qualify for Northern Recruitment and Retention Funding through the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
Qualifications

Fully independent registration (or eligible for) with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

Certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada – FRCSC in General Surgery

US Board Certified Physicians are eligible for Independent license in Ontario
