POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction of the Obstetrics/Gynecology Department head and the medical director concerned, the obstetrician/gynecologist focuses on the study of women’s health and reproduction. The specialty encompasses medical, surgical, obstetric and gynecologic knowledge and skills for the prevention, diagnosis and management of a broad range of conditions affecting women’s general and reproductive health. 

EMPLOYER:

Our client is a regional health authority providing and managing health care and services in an area covering northern and southeastern New Brunswick. The Network is the only Francophone managed organization of its kind in the country and has nearly 60 points of service providing a range of health care and services to members of the public in the official language of their choice. The Network has approximately 7,700 part-time and full-time employees, 560 physicians, including 259 specialists, and nearly 800 volunteers. The Network’s 2021-2022 budget was $704 million (excluding Medicare). 

JOB DUTIES:

Obstetrician/Gynecologists provide healthcare to women throughout their lifespan, treating conditions that are unique to women and their reproductive processes, including patients with complex pregnancies, fertility and/or infertility and pelvic floor dysfunction, and the gynecologic health of elderly women. In addition, they provide care to patients with cancer who are experiencing issues that affect the reproductive organs or processes.

 

HOURS OF WORK:
– Rotation

REMUNERATION:
– Sessional

Remuneration is by a sessional rate arrangement as outlined in the New Brunswick Physicians’ Manual. No source deductions can be provided.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A medical degree is required.

  • Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or American Board Certification in OBGYN; In circumstances where no qualified Canadian trained applicants are available, equivalent certification may be considered as long as they qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick. 

  • The candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick. 

  • Experience (one to three years) considered an asset;

  • Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent may be considered;

  • Ability to communicate with colleagues, patients, families and visitors with tact and courtesy;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;

  • Good work history (performance and attendance);

  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network’s management philosophy, and organizational values;

EXPECTED START DATE:
As soon as possible

INCENTIVES:

  • Moving expenses allowance.

  • Possibility of a recruitment incentive depending on eligibility, as determined by the Department of Health (return of service required).
