Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician
Full-Time Opportunity | Southern Ontario
Our client, a community hospital located in Southern Ontario, is seeking a Full-Time Obstetrics & Gynecology Physician (1.0 FTE) to join a collaborative obstetrical and women’s health program. The successful physician will work alongside two established community Obstetrician/Gynecologists and a strong interdisciplinary team in a supportive hospital-based practice.
Obstetrical Program Overview
The obstetrics program provides comprehensive maternity and gynecologic care to the surrounding region. The department is currently seeking a physician to support a growing service with stable program infrastructure.
Key program features include:
- Level 1B Obstetrical Unit
- Approximately 250 births annually, with opportunity for program growth
- 10-bed obstetrical unit (4 Labour & Delivery beds + 6 flexible beds)
- 24/7 anesthesia coverage
- Well-Baby Clinic located within the obstetrical unit (staffed by FMOB physicians and Nurse Practitioners)
- Women’s Health & Reproductive Clinic operating twice monthly
Clinical Scope & Opportunities
This role offers a broad and rewarding scope of practice in both obstetrics and gynecology, including:
- Inpatient and outpatient gynecologic care
- Gynecologic surgical procedures
- One dedicated operating room day per week
- Full range of general gynecology services
- Opportunity for minimally invasive surgical practice (asset but not required)
Compensation Model
The program operates under a Ministry of Health Obstetrics & Gynecology Alternate Payment Program Agreement (APPA), offering:
- Stable alternative payment funding model
- Program supports 3.0 FTE physicians
- 1.0 FTE currently available
- Approximately 80.5 on-call days annually
Interdisciplinary Team
The program is supported by a strong collaborative care model including:
- 4 Midwives
- 4 Family Medicine Obstetrics physicians
- Dedicated leadership team (Director, Manager, Educator)
- 3 Obstetrical Registered Nurses on duty 24/7
- Ward Clerk support
Qualifications
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Certified or eligible for certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology in Canada
- American Board Certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology
- Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
