Our client, a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Northern Ontario, is seeking a full-time Orthopedic Surgeon with a subspecialty in Spine training to join their dynamic team. Physicians will work within a collaborative environment, guided by trauma-informed and culturally safe practices, while helping to fulfill the hospital's mission: Providing Exemplary Care to Northerners. 

 

The Physician can expect equitable access to operating room time, fracture clinics, and reasonable on-call expectations. The Hospital supports over 200 orthopedic surgeries annually. Additionally, there are opportunities to contribute to medical education by teaching and mentoring medical students and family medicine residents through their affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. This is a fulfilling role for those who are passionate about both clinical excellence and shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals.

 

Remuneration:

  • Fee-for-Service 

  • Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan

  • HOCC On-Call stipend. 

 

Incentives:

  • Incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.

  • Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.

  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,718 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Medical Degree with specialist training in Orthopedic Surgery with subspecialty training in spine.

  • Certification or eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC)

  • Eligible for independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario by:

           Hold American Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery (spine).

           Holding full license in another Canadian province.

           Have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
           certification in Orthopedic Surgery (spine).

           Eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant
           Professor or higher.

  • US Board certified physicians are eligible for an independent license in Ontario.

  • Have (or be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.

  • Have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
