Our client, a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Northern Ontario, is seeking a full-time Pediatrician to join their Department of Pediatric and Neonatal Medicine. This is a community general consulting position that would include neonatal and pediatric inpatient and outpatient care. The neonatal unit provides intensive care to newborns and has a 5-bed capacity. Our client manages babies with a gestational age of 34 weeks and above and serves as a Level 2A consulting neonatal center. Deliveries average 600 per year. Children requiring inpatient pediatric care are served by a five-bed inpatient unit. There is access to multidisciplinary asthma and diabetes clinics, as well as complex care clinics. There is also an opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

 

On-call: Reasonable expectations and flexible work hours.

 

Remuneration:

  • Generous compensation package through an alternate funding plan with the Pediatric Associates of Timmins and District, HOCC stipend, Pediatric Stabilization Program, and shadow billings. 

 

Incentives:

  • Incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.

  • Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.

  • Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $84,718 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Medical Degree with specialist training in Pediatrics.

  • Certification or eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC)

  • Eligible for independent license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario by:

Hold American Board Certification in Pediatrics.

Holding full license in another Canadian province.

Have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Pediatrics.

Eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.

  • Physicians who currently hold an independent license in another Canadian province may be eligible for an independent license in Ontario.

  • US Board certified physicians are eligible for an independent license in Ontario.

  • Have (or be eligible for) certification in ACLS or ATLS

  • Have (or be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.

  • Have excellent clinical skills

  • Have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
