POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Our client in the Moncton area is actively seeking a permanent, full time adult psychiatrist to work with nine other adult psychiatrists. 

Psychiatric coverage is provided on an on-call basis by the group. Academic and research opportunities are available through the hospital’s affiliation with both Dalhousie University and Memorial University.

The client, is one of the largest health-care organizations in Atlantic Canada, operating 12 hospitals and more than 100 medical facilities, clinics and offices providing medical services ranging from acute care to community based health services to New Brunswick, northern Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. With 1,000 physicians, an annual budget exceeding $1 billion and approximately 13,000 employees.

 
The Hospital is a 386-bed, level two provincial referral trauma centre and critical care facility offering tertiary services in neurosurgery, oncology and neonatal care and includes all other major services and subspecialties. It is a major referral hospital serving communities across New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and northern Nova Scotia.
 
JOB DESCRIPTION:
 A typical weekly schedule will include:
  • Provide inpatient care including daily rounds on patients admitted under your care or per the hospitalist rounding schedule
  • Provide consultations to hospital-based patients as requested by attending staff
  • Provide an outpatient service for the assessment and management of both new and follow-up patients
  • Teaching responsibilities for residents, medical students, nurses, and peers as appropriate
  • Participate in departmental and other appropriate pediatrics and hospital committees
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address staff and patient education needs

REMUNERATION:

  • Fee for Service
  • Standard remuneration is fee-for-service which is a direct compensation between the physician and Medicare of New Brunswick. No source deductions can be provided. 
  • However, under special circumstances, with approval from the Department of Health of New Brunswick, a salaried model may be available. This may range between a minimum of $249, 054 to a maximum of $302, 796 annually (excluding benefits and source deductions) based on qualifications and experience. On call remuneration is fee for service. 22.5% market adjust for Psychiatrists in addition to general economic increases.
  • On call remuneration is fee for service and in addition to the amount listed above.

These rates are based on New Brunswick’s Medicare Medical Pay Plan and are subject to changes based on policy updates.

INCENTIVES: 
  • Compensation is fee-for-service and under special circumstances a salaried model may be available; further details are available upon request
  •  Long-term locum work may be considered on an individual basis
  • Moving Expense Allowance with a Return of Service.
  • Candidates may be eligible for a Provincial Recruitment Incentive of $50,000  with a Return of Service Agreement.         
EXPECTED START DATE:
As soon as possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A medical degree is required.
  • Certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or la Corporation professionnelle des médecins du Québec or  American Board Certification in Psyhciatry; In circumstances where no qualified Canadian trained applicants are available, equivalent certification may be considered as long as they qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick.  
  • In circumstances where no Canadian fellowship applicants are available, physicians who have finished a Canadian or American psychiatry program will be considered.  
  • Proficiency in English is required.
  • Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick. https://www.cpsnb.org/
