Job Description:

 

The Respirologist will be the cornerstone of respiratory care for a diverse patient population. They will conduct comprehensive evaluations, utilizing thorough medical histories, physical examinations, and advanced diagnostic tools including the in-house Level III PFT lab to accurately diagnose a wide array of respiratory conditions. Each patient will receive a personalized treatment plan, developed collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, ensuring coordinated and holistic care. Beyond diagnosis and treatment, the physician will play a key role in patient and family education, empowering them with knowledge about their conditions, treatment options, and effective self-management strategies.

 

Medication management will also be a central part of daily practice. The Respirologist will prescribe and monitor therapies tailored to each individual’s needs. Ongoing follow-up is essential to Alberta Cardiology and Medical Consultants care model: The physician will track patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and proactively address any new concerns or complications.

 

Alberta Cardiology and Medical Consultants encourages continuous learning and professional development. There will be opportunities to keep abreast of the latest advancements in respiratory medicine. Depending on interests and the clinic’s evolving needs, there may also be opportunities to participate in the administrative and operational aspects of the clinic, particularly concerning the PFT lab.

Qualifications:

  • MD with Internal Medicine training and fellowship training in Respirology. 

  • Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) and Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Exam (MCCQE) Part 1 or a complete set of USMLE’s, is favoured.

  • Physicians with training from a CPSA approved jurisdiction OR Physicians with Royal College PER eligibility & MCCQE1 exam or equivalency, will also be considered

  • This is an Alberta Health Services (AHS) Sponsored position
