Phil’s extensive health career has afforded him the opportunity to participate on numerous health committees and boards at the local, provincial and national level. Most of his career was spent in the senior management and executive level of the public health sector, including CEO of the West Prince Health Authority of PEI and Chairman of the Health Association of PEI. He exited the public sector in 2005 and held the private sector executive role as Vice President, Operations, CanAm Physician Recruiting Inc. until 2021.
His health career calling has always been to bridge conventional wisdom to enable real, sustainable, health system change. This critical change is both feasible and attainable by incentivizing both public and private health sector collaboration. This strategic collaboration has been the core of CanAm’s success since its inception in 1997.
A native Nova Scotia, now living in Stratford, PEI with his wife Sandra, a Geriatric Nurse Specialist, proud parents of 3 adult children, Allanna, Lauren and James, and 4 grandchildren. Personal interests include physical fitness, cycling, alpine skiing, walking, soccer, outdoors, reading, travelling, community service and spending time with family.
