It is my great pleasure to provide this professional reference for Mr. Phil Jost of CanAm Physician Recruiting. I can confidently say that if it were not for the extraordinary efforts of Phil, I and my family would never have even considered PEI as a career destination. Phil’s careful research of my specific professional and family needs, and his ability to find the ideal job match was exemplary. I contribute our family’s success to his sincerity, a sound knowledge of all aspects of the Canadian healthcare system, boundless energy, a seemingly endless network of colleagues that enable him to find a solution for almost any problem, and a willingness to adapt to our needs â no matter what time of the day. Through his efforts our immigration, licensing, contract negotiations, legal advice, banking, and real estate needs were all resolved efficiently and effectively. He also proved that he can go the extra, extra mile by ensuring that my son was able to apply and get accepted to the business program at the provincial college, and even arranging for a snow plow to clear my driveway during an early snowstorm. If you are considering a medical career in Canada, and simply want the very best – someone who is a true professional with integrity, energy, intelligence, has an in-depth knowledge of the industry, and is an expert solutions provider, it is without any hesitation that I recommend that you contact Phil Jost and the CanAm team.

Throughout the process of returning to Ontario to practice medicine Hedi Cameron of CanAm Physician Recruiting was without a doubt the most professional, knowledgeable and compassionate person I have ever worked with. Hedi was available to offer insight, guidance and determination to succeed at every step. I can honestly say I would not have been successful if not for the hard work and skill Hedi demonstrated for myself and my family from the moment we were introduced. Thank you Hedi and CanAm for all your hard work, you have made a difference in my life and I will forever be in your debt. Peter

Tawfiq ZeidanSchwiri, MD, Cardiology

I met Phil Jost from CanAm Physician Recruiting during a Canada wide job search for a staff cardiologist position. An initial telephone conversation introduced us to a polite, well-mannered gentleman willing to help and guide me on our journey of securing a post as an International Medical Graduate (IMG). Phil proved to be anything but a typical recruitment consultant. He called, frequently followed up, and took the time to ask all the relevant questions in relation to our needs on both the professional and personal fronts. Phil’s skills and experience are exceptional, and he was very helpful in initially refining our job search by identifying the best and most appropriate hospitals, in the most suitable Canadian locations. His persistence, drive and dedication were remarkable, and of great help in emphasizing my unique skills and experience to his clients. His advice in preparing for the interview was also remarkable. He met me at the airport, and took care to discuss details of the position that ensured I was well prepared to perform in the interview. Once an offer for a job was made Phil contacted the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the province to ensure that my license to practice was issued on time.Phil guided us through the privilege documentation needed by the hospital and was accurate and precise in all details. After I started my new job, Phil again contacted us to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Phil also organized for an immigration lawyer to arrange a work permit. He introduced us to realtors, mortgage brokers and other service providers required when you’re a foreign worker moving with a family. His guidance on the personal front was excellent. We bought a house in the suburb that was best for our family through a realtor he recommended, and with five months hindsight, it has proven an excellent choice. We couldn’t be happier. He remained in contact throughout our move. Recently we faced a new obstacle with our health insurance because of our status as foreign workers, and one call to Phil had it resolved within 24 hours (our health insurance was reinstated without a gap). During the time we have worked with Phil, he has always responded and returned our calls promptly, even while he was on vacation. His commitment, dedication and loyalty to his clients are exceptional. His knowledge of the Canadian Health Care System is extensive

I have nothing but good words to say about the CanAm team who provided excellent services above and beyond my expectations. CanAm is very professional and transparent and I would recommend them to any of my colleagues. I am an international medical graduate and CanAm has accommodated my family and I, and I am very thankful for their services. They treated us as family and they are the best recruiters.

Michelle: You will recall that I responded to an urgent request for an anesthesia locum in Gander, NL that was put out through Canam Recruiting last summer. After an initial conversation with John Philpott, I agreed to take on the job for the month of July. There was a short timeline to get licensure and privileges organized and I found your help invaluable in getting things done in order to start in Gander on July 2. Considering that this was a fast-track application for licensure in Newfoundland, the process was still quite labour intensive and time consuming and without your help in dealing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador, I don’t think that we would have met the deadline to get me in place for that start date. You also followed up after my arrival to ensure that things were working out. As it turned out, the month in Gander worked out remarkably well. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and was able to do some travelling in the vicinity and enjoy the many delights of that part of Newfoundland. Thank you for your help in making it all possible.

I’d just like to thank CanAm recruiting, and in particular Phil Jost, for securing my first job in Canada. What seemed like an impossible task when I set out trying to do things on my own, rapidly took shape with the guidance from Phil. I talk with particular perspective as an IMG and the difficulties that we can face trying to break in to the workforce of Canada. However, he’s helped with finding a potential employer, making me an “acceptable’ candidate – helping to resolve issues such as work permit, PCRC, CMPA, MCCEE. He gave clear, easy to follow advice, which when looked at altogether seemed like a mountain to climb but with CanAm’s advice, became a tangible process that took, from start to finish, in the order of 3-4 months, a genuinely remarkable turn-around. This, bearing in mind, I was starting right at the beginning/from scratch. Thanks Phil and CanAm recruiting. I look forward to working through you guys for the ongoing future. Rob Casserley

I accepted and paid the CanAm consultation fee for the assessment of my credentials to determine suitability for licence in Canada. The information provided was genuine and extremely helpful. The Answers I received were honest and clear. 100% satisfied.

Dr. Kormos

I have to say that it was worth dealing with all the paperwork to get the Sask License. The last 7 weeks was fantastic. I have sooooo many great pictures that it is difficult to make a photo album without making it boringly long. I am on call now, so I am not travelling anywhere this weekend, but I drove more than 7000 km in the area already. The Rockies are amazing, the local flora and fauna is wonderful, fishing is great. Two days ago I caught a pike weighing 6 pound seven ounces in addition to a 2 pound walleye, a couple weeks earlier another walleye and a few perches, so I did not have any difficulty supplying my kitchen with fish. The job was pleasant, with the exception of one bad weekend I never felt tired. I would not mind coming back here if they happen to need locum services in the future. I plan on staying in Cyprus till about mid December, but plans do change.

Family Physician (IMG)

To establish/start practice in Canada as IMG is next to impossible keeping in mind the constant change in policies. I must praise John Philpott and his team for their updated, indepth and extensive knowledge in the field. The level of professional commitment is par excellence. If you need sincere advice on your position you can count on CanAm. Keep the good work.
