It is well known that Canada remains one of the more challenging countries for IMGs who are looking to practice, despite the country’s well known huge demand and shortage of qualified physicians. The route is paved with obstacles often deemed insurmountable. I am glad to say that my initial 2 hour long phone consultation with Mr Philpott, allowed me to elucidate some of these obstacles. The team offer a case based approach which is probably the most valuable aspect of the service they offer. The website offers a webinar, entitled ‘How to Practice in Canada’, which outlines the process. The cost of this was kindly waved in addition to the 2 hour phone consultation with John. The complexities of the process wouldn’t allow for a generic pathway. CanAM physician recruiting are clearly very knowledgeable and sufficiently resourceful to offer a tailored, individualised passage through the Canadian licensing labyrinth. I have no reservations in strongly recommending John Philpott and his team of experts to all International Medical graduates, and Canadian graduates alike, who have made the educated decision of wanting to practice their craft in Canada.

I met Phil Jost from CanAm Physician Recruiting during a Canada wide job search for a staff cardiologist position. An initial telephone conversation introduced us to a polite, well-mannered gentleman willing to help and guide me on our journey of securing a post as an International Medical Graduate (IMG). Phil proved to be anything but a typical recruitment consultant. He called, frequently followed up, and took the time to ask all the relevant questions in relation to our needs on both the professional and personal fronts. Phil’s skills and experience are exceptional, and he was very helpful in initially refining our job search by identifying the best and most appropriate hospitals, in the most suitable Canadian locations. His persistence, drive and dedication were remarkable, and of great help in emphasizing my unique skills and experience to his clients. His advice in preparing for the interview was also remarkable. He met me at the airport, and took care to discuss details of the position that ensured I was well prepared to perform in the interview. Once an offer for a job was made Phil contacted the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the province to ensure that my license to practice was issued on time.Phil guided us through the privilege documentation needed by the hospital and was accurate and precise in all details. After I started my new job, Phil again contacted us to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Phil also organized for an immigration lawyer to arrange a work permit. He introduced us to realtors, mortgage brokers and other service providers required when you’re a foreign worker moving with a family. His guidance on the personal front was excellent. We bought a house in the suburb that was best for our family through a realtor he recommended, and with five months hindsight, it has proven an excellent choice. We couldn’t be happier. He remained in contact throughout our move. Recently we faced a new obstacle with our health insurance because of our status as foreign workers, and one call to Phil had it resolved within 24 hours (our health insurance was reinstated without a gap). During the time we have worked with Phil, he has always responded and returned our calls promptly, even while he was on vacation. His commitment, dedication and loyalty to his clients are exceptional. His knowledge of the Canadian Health Care System is extensive

My name is Leszek Swica, I am Canadian trained and Royal College certified anesthesiologist. Following completion of my residency training at the Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia I worked for 13 years at the Aberdeen Regional Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. In November 2011 administration cancelled the local anesthesia contract agreement and I decided to look for another place of employment. Following recommendation of my anesthesia colleague I contacted Mr. John Philpott from CanAm Physician Recruiting. In his recruitment effort Mr. Philpott was looking for the place that would match my training, work experience, carrier goals and would also give me financial stability. He identified a vacant position at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan which was not advertised in medical journals or recruitment web sites. Mr. Philpott was very efficient in his search and brought to my attention the fact that there was another strong candidate looking seriously at this place. Following his advice I went ASAP for the site visit in Swift Current. I received the job offer and I signed my present contract agreement at the time of that site visit in March 2012. Thanks to Mr. Philpott I found a great place to work and live. The Cypress Regional Hospital has a very professional work environment and friendly relations between OR staff and members of other departments. Physicians are very well looks after and enjoy good working relations with the local administration. The Cypress Health Region has the Family Medicine training programme affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan. As a preceptor of the residents having anesthesia rotations I was appointed a Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. I find my teaching activities to be very exciting, professionally stimulating and refreshing. Town of Swift Current has a population size, life style and all amenities very similar to Pictou County in Nova Scotia where I lived and worked until April 2012. Province of Saskatchewan has a strong and booming economy. Saskatchewan Medical Association enjoys very good working contacts with the provincial government and is able to negotiate good working conditions and competitive income for its members. It is my great pleasure to write about this positive experience and I can highly and without hesitation recommend Mr. John Phipott and CanAm Physician Recruiting. He is very professional and honest. CanAm Recruiting has been great to work with from day one! I can alway rely on a quick response regarding my recruitment needs. We have recruited three full-time permanent physicians in a 6 month time period from CanAm, as well as one locum physician, all in different specialties. These physicians were very well qualified and have worked out nicely. I would like to thank John for his efforts in recruiting physicians to St. John’s, NL. The main reason I accepted the job in St. John’s is the because of the great family atmosphere. I believe that John Philipottâ choice of his local agent Natalie Davis, could not be better. She was absolutely amazing. She managed to bond with my family immediately…and I mean at the airport arrival section! She took care of us like family (and this was what I was looking for).
