Dr. Zahra Jamal., MRCGP, CCFP

Getting ready to move and work in Canada can be quite an overwhelming process and I honestly don’t think that it would have happened as quickly or as smoothly if it wasn’t for Phil Jost. I moved over from the UK on my own in 2008, but Phil was there for me every step of the way. From the very first telephone conversation he was able to assess my credentials and provide me with accurate information with regards to licensing and where I could practice as a family physician in Canada. Phil has extensive experience in working with physicians and keeps himself informed on any new developments that could affect his clients. He maintains a strong working relationship with colleagues in the Department of Health and at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and was also able to liase with them on my behalf. The immigration process is tedious but he made regular phone calls to me to see how it was going and was always available when I needed advice. He is incredibly efficient in his work, has a good understanding of the indvidual’s needs, is encouraging and extremely patient. After arriving in Canada I was introduced to his family who welcomed me and became my first friends here. He was able to advise me on most things from buying a car to where to buy the best snow gear. After living in Canada for over two years he still checks up on me and makes himself available and approachable. He has and continues to remain genuinely interested in me as well as my family’s welfare. I am very grateful to him for his huge efforts, he truly goes above and beyond, and would recommend him wholeheartedly without any reservation.

Hey, nothing’s impossible. I’m from the Philippines and am now working in Nova Scotia. If you want a strong team beside you to guide you in finding a job in Canada, then CanAm is what you’re looking for! After submitting my application, I got an email in 2 days with a possiblity for a job opening. I had a difficult visa situation but CanAm with John Philpott at the helm as well as their affiliate immigration specialists led by Ravi Jain (Green and Spiegel) got the job done. When push came to shove these guys did not back down and worked with me and my family to get us to Nova Scotia, took care of us when we arrived, and helped us settle down soon afterward. You would think they’d be done after that but no, another partner (D Marc Telfry), who with John was nice enough to welcome us at the airport, even showed up at my clinic a month after to check and see how me and my family were doing. How’s that for personalized service? That’s the CanAm advantage! Let’s see if any other recruitment group can top that. Thanks again to John Philpott and CanAm. PS: Thanks for the shirt, John!

Michael Howlett, MD CCFP(EM), Clinical Head Department of Emergency Medicine

Our Department recently underwent a major transition with the opening of a new ED structure, a new Medical School, implementation of a new academic funding plan, and significant augmentation of clinical staff. We have been successful in recruiting over a dozen new emergency physicians, several of whom were direct referrals from Mr. Jost and CanAm. CanAm services have been exemplary through an approach that involves extensive research, careful matching of clients and physicians, an intimate knowledge of the health care industry both locally and internationally, and a work ethic that simply does not quit. I have found Mr. Jost to be forthright, professional, and reliable, an excellent communicator, and willing to adapt to our needs and requests. Our new physicians hired through his services have fit in extremely well on the medical, interpersonal and family life fronts, and are among the best in the field. I certainly would recommend the services of CanAm Physician Recruiting Inc., and Mr. Phil Jost without reservation.

Internist!

Even though I have never met Warren and John in person, they were always there when needed, they helped me since day 1, finding the right job, adjusting my CV, tips for the phone interview, and through the whole licensing and immigration process. Warren called me in several occasions even without being asked, he even picked up an envelope for me himself when no one was there. I Just want to thank you all for all your help, I can easily say that coming to Canada would not have happened without your help.

Dr. Fayyaz Khan

Its a pleasure to discuss the professional and personal merit of CanAm Physician Recruiting, Inc. I have known them for more than 6 years. I came to Canada from Australia in 2004 and I had the worst experience of my life as the recruiting firm that I was dealing with didn’t know the licensing of physicians in Canada. But thankfully my CV was represented by Mr John (CanAm)and my career got on the right path. The professional approach of CanAm is in my opinion the BEST in Canada. Their dealing with physicians is excellent, in true words they are the people who know the criteria to be licensed in Canada for a physician who is not trained here in this country. Keep up the good work guys. FayyazKhan,MD. Staff Anaesthesiologist &B.P.H.C.C.

Tatiana Slivko. MD, CCFP

It is my great pleasure to provide this professional reference for Mr. Phil Jost of CanAm Physician Recruiting. I can confidently say that if it were not for the extraordinary efforts of Phil, I and my family would never have even considered PEI as a career destination. Phil’s careful research of my specific professional and family needs, and his ability to find the ideal job match was exemplary. I contribute our family’s success to his sincerity, a sound knowledge of all aspects of the Canadian healthcare system, boundless energy, a seemingly endless network of colleagues that enable him to find a solution for almost any problem, and a willingness to adapt to our needs â no matter what time of the day. Through his efforts our immigration, licensing, contract negotiations, legal advice, banking, and real estate needs were all resolved efficiently and effectively. He also proved that he can go the extra, extra mile by ensuring that my son was able to apply and get accepted to the business program at the provincial college, and even arranging for a snow plow to clear my driveway during an early snowstorm. If you are considering a medical career in Canada, and simply want the very best – someone who is a true professional with integrity, energy, intelligence, has an in-depth knowledge of the industry, and is an expert solutions provider, it is without any hesitation that I recommend that you contact Phil Jost and the CanAm team.

Michelle: You will recall that I responded to an urgent request for an anesthesia locum in Gander, NL that was put out through Canam Recruiting last summer. After an initial conversation with John Philpott, I agreed to take on the job for the month of July. There was a short timeline to get licensure and privileges organized and I found your help invaluable in getting things done in order to start in Gander on July 2. Considering that this was a fast-track application for licensure in Newfoundland, the process was still quite labour intensive and time consuming and without your help in dealing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador, I don’t think that we would have met the deadline to get me in place for that start date. You also followed up after my arrival to ensure that things were working out. As it turned out, the month in Gander worked out remarkably well. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and was able to do some travelling in the vicinity and enjoy the many delights of that part of Newfoundland. Thank you for your help in making it all possible.

Firas Elias Douri, MD

I was recently referred to Mr. Phil Jost by a trusted physician colleague who highly recommended him as a knowledgeable professional capable of providing professional advice to help me find a successful career pathway to finally enter Canadian Family Medicine practice. Mr. Jost contacted me be telephone, carefully assessed my current career situation and was able to provide me with several options, both verbally and in writing, for me to follow to get my career back on track. Mr. Jost was indeed very professional, patient and knowledgeable and I found the information he provided to be very valuable when making my future career decisions. I truly wish I had contacted him before I left my home in Iraq to come to Canada, and I am sure I would have avoided many of the career obstacles that I have encountered since arriving in Canada in 2011. I highly recommend Mr. Jost’s counsel to any physician considering a move to Canada. Firas Elias Douri, MD

Dr. Kormos

I have to say that it was worth dealing with all the paperwork to get the Sask License. The last 7 weeks was fantastic. I have sooooo many great pictures that it is difficult to make a photo album without making it boringly long. I am on call now, so I am not travelling anywhere this weekend, but I drove more than 7000 km in the area already. The Rockies are amazing, the local flora and fauna is wonderful, fishing is great. Two days ago I caught a pike weighing 6 pound seven ounces in addition to a 2 pound walleye, a couple weeks earlier another walleye and a few perches, so I did not have any difficulty supplying my kitchen with fish. The job was pleasant, with the exception of one bad weekend I never felt tired. I would not mind coming back here if they happen to need locum services in the future. I plan on staying in Cyprus till about mid December, but plans do change.

Leszek Swica MD, FRCPSC

My name is Leszek Swica, I am Canadian trained and Royal College certified anesthesiologist. Following completion of my residency training at the Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia I worked for 13 years at the Aberdeen Regional Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. In November 2011 administration cancelled the local anesthesia contract agreement and I decided to look for another place of employment. Following recommendation of my anesthesia colleague I contacted Mr. John Philpott from CanAm Physician Recruiting. In his recruitment effort Mr. Philpott was looking for the place that would match my training, work experience, carrier goals and would also give me financial stability. He identified a vacant position at the Cypress Regional Hospital in Swift Current, Saskatchewan which was not advertised in medical journals or recruitment web sites. Mr. Philpott was very efficient in his search and brought to my attention the fact that there was another strong candidate looking seriously at this place. Following his advice I went ASAP for the site visit in Swift Current. I received the job offer and I signed my present contract agreement at the time of that site visit in March 2012. Thanks to Mr. Philpott I found a great place to work and live. The Cypress Regional Hospital has a very professional work environment and friendly relations between OR staff and members of other departments. Physicians are very well looks after and enjoy good working relations with the local administration. The Cypress Health Region has the Family Medicine training programme affiliated with the University of Saskatchewan. As a preceptor of the residents having anesthesia rotations I was appointed a Clinical Assistant Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. I find my teaching activities to be very exciting, professionally stimulating and refreshing. Town of Swift Current has a population size, life style and all amenities very similar to Pictou County in Nova Scotia where I lived and worked until April 2012. Province of Saskatchewan has a strong and booming economy. Saskatchewan Medical Association enjoys very good working contacts with the provincial government and is able to negotiate good working conditions and competitive income for its members. It is my great pleasure to write about this positive experience and I can highly and without hesitation recommend Mr. John Phipott and CanAm Physician Recruiting. He is very professional and honest. He is also very efficient and his recruitment objectives are

KHALDOON ALJERIAN

I would like to thank John for his efforts in recruiting physicians to St. John’s, NL. The main reason I accepted the job in St. John’s is the because of the great family atmosphere. I believe that John Philipottâ choice of his local agent Natalie Davis, could not be better. She was absolutely amazing. She managed to bond with my family immediately…and I mean at the airport arrival section! She took care of us like family (and this was what I was looking for). I had no problem after that to convince my wife that St. John’s was the place to be. I felt like she was my own personal manager. She accompanied me to the places I needed to be and paved the usually slow process of employment and registration with the different required agencies in record time. Natalie showed us around town and took my wife to the malls, shops, schools, parks, etc. In addition, she went the extra mile many times including taking my child on a play date and helped us with the purchase of our new home. She really was a great ambassador for St.John’s ; John Philipott is even greater for choosing her, because doing a great job might be tough but , to get someone else to do the same job takes outstanding skill and confidence . In reality this is what a manager is.
