I met Phil Jost from CanAm Physician Recruiting during a Canada wide job search for a staff cardiologist position. An initial telephone conversation introduced us to a polite, well-mannered gentleman willing to help and guide me on our journey of securing a post as an International Medical Graduate (IMG). Phil proved to be anything but a typical recruitment consultant. He called, frequently followed up, and took the time to ask all the relevant questions in relation to our needs on both the professional and personal fronts. Phil’s skills and experience are exceptional, and he was very helpful in initially refining our job search by identifying the best and most appropriate hospitals, in the most suitable Canadian locations. His persistence, drive and dedication were remarkable, and of great help in emphasizing my unique skills and experience to his clients. His advice in preparing for the interview was also remarkable. He met me at the airport, and took care to discuss details of the position that ensured I was well prepared to perform in the interview. Once an offer for a job was made Phil contacted the College of Physicians and Surgeons of the province to ensure that my license to practice was issued on time.Phil guided us through the privilege documentation needed by the hospital and was accurate and precise in all details. After I started my new job, Phil again contacted us to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Phil also organized for an immigration lawyer to arrange a work permit. He introduced us to realtors, mortgage brokers and other service providers required when you’re a foreign worker moving with a family. His guidance on the personal front was excellent. We bought a house in the suburb that was best for our family through a realtor he recommended, and with five months hindsight, it has proven an excellent choice. We couldn’t be happier. He remained in contact throughout our move. Recently we faced a new obstacle with our health insurance because of our status as foreign workers, and one call to Phil had it resolved within 24 hours (our health insurance was reinstated without a gap). During the time we have worked with Phil, he has always responded and returned our calls promptly, even while he was on vacation. His commitment, dedication and loyalty to his clients are exceptional. His knowledge of the Canadian Health Care System is extensive

I am a Family Physician from the UK and got interested in relocating to Ontario. Not to anybody’s surprise, the process of getting licensed by CPSO was so very complicated – requiring endless paperwork, finding a supervisor and satisfying many criteria. While I was hunting for jobs in Ontario, one morning, my wife accidentally came across Hedi Cameron’s ( of CamAm Physician Recruiting) details and I emailed her with my queries. She replied within minutes and that was the start and she kept her promptness, professionalism and courtesy all the way till I finally got the license. It was a particularly difficult journey for me as I required a clinical supervisor for a certain period and this really posed a stumbling block to the progress. Hedi was very prompt and efficient, she was on the phone with the college numerous times to clarify matters, also chasing behind the supervisors to keep the paperwork ready within target time. What impressed me particularly was that Hedi genuinely looked after my welfare as much as she cared for the employer all along the difficult and protracted journey. Never was there a time that she tried to cut corners just for the sake of finding me a place. We had to move between many employers in order to satisfy the College regarding the arrangements for my supervision at work. Hedi made herself available in the weekends and at unsocial hours as I had a tight schedule. She was very friendly, honest and I find her extremely knowledgeable in her field. She is outspoken, genuine and does not give false hopes. I was extremely lucky to have met Hedi Cameron and I am absolutely certain that without her in the scene, I would never have obtained my license from CPSO. I find Hedi Cameron one of the most efficient professionals that I have ever met and I would strongly recommend Hedi Cameron of CanAm Physician Recruiting to any physician who is considering relocating to Canada.

Even though I have never met Warren and John in person, they were always there when needed, they helped me since day 1, finding the right job, adjusting my CV, tips for the phone interview, and through the whole licensing and immigration process. Warren called me in several occasions even without being asked, he even picked up an envelope for me himself when no one was there. I Just want to thank you all for all your help, I can easily say that coming to Canada would not have happened without your help.

I would like to thank John for his efforts in recruiting physicians to St. John’s, NL. The main reason I accepted the job in St. John’s is the because of the great family atmosphere. I believe that John Philipottâ choice of his local agent Natalie Davis, could not be better. She was absolutely amazing. She managed to bond with my family immediately…and I mean at the airport arrival section! She took care of us like family (and this was what I was looking for). I had no problem after that to convince my wife that St. John’s was the place to be. I felt like she was my own personal manager. She accompanied me to the places I needed to be and paved the usually slow process of employment and registration with the different required agencies in record time. Natalie showed us around town and took my wife to the malls, shops, schools, parks, etc. In addition, she went the extra mile many times including taking my child on a play date and helped us with the purchase of our new home. She really was a great ambassador for St.John’s ; John Philipott is even greater for choosing her, because doing a great job might be tough but , to get someone else to do the same job takes outstanding skill and confidence . In reality this is what a manager is.

At the time I made up my mind for a move to practice in Ontario, I first contacted Phil Jost who directed me to call Hedi Cameron who is in charge of Canam Recruiting operations in Ontario. I am glad he did because right from the time I gave Hedi a phone call about my plans to get registered in Ontario, she immediately got the ball rolling and made what was a difficult process an easy one. Hedi worked and guided me through the application which was quite demanding, by her numerous pieces of advice and tips through e-mails and phone calls. She never for once kept me waiting for answers to questions I raised during the process. E-mails were responded to and phone calls were promptly returned. While guiding me through the registrations with CPSO, she also helped me in looking for practices from which I eventually picked one. She stood by me up to the point of signing the contract with the owners of the practice I chose to work from. All through the process, Hedi was very professional and she demonstrated a deep knowledge of the issues involved in helping physicians get registered with the CPSO, relocate and practise in Ontario. It is without reservation that I recommend Hedi to any physician with plans to register and work in Ontario. Many thanks to you Hedi.

Getting ready to move and work in Canada can be quite an overwhelming process and I honestly don’t think that it would have happened as quickly or as smoothly if it wasn’t for Phil Jost. I moved over from the UK on my own in 2008, but Phil was there for me every step of the way. From the very first telephone conversation he was able to assess my credentials and provide me with accurate information with regards to licensing and where I could practice as a family physician in Canada. Phil has extensive experience in working with physicians and keeps himself informed on any new developments that could affect his clients. He maintains a strong working relationship with colleagues in the Department of Health and at the College of Physicians and Surgeons and was also able to liase with them on my behalf. The immigration process is tedious but he made regular phone calls to me to see how it was going and was always available when I needed advice. He is incredibly efficient in his work, has a good understanding of the indvidual’s needs, is encouraging and extremely patient. After arriving in Canada I was introduced to his family who welcomed me and became my first friends here. He was able to advise me on most things from buying a car to where to buy the best snow gear. After living in Canada for over two years he still checks up on me and makes himself available and approachable. He has and continues to remain genuinely interested in me as well as my family’s welfare. I am very grateful to him for his huge efforts, he truly goes above and beyond, and would recommend him wholeheartedly without any reservation.

CanAm arranged everything I needed when I was looking for work in the Maritime Provinces. I was able to confidently pick a great job after they arranged site visits to several prospective employers and assisted with the paperwork. Thank you.

I recently relocated my family to Canada through Phil Jost and CanAm. He is an extraordinarily diligent, hard-working, consistent, highly reliable and dependable and profoundly knowledgable professional. These sterling qualities come to the fore in every aspect of Phil’s work and operation. He is extremely honest and pays utmost attention to details. He has an excellent, broad and deep knowledge of every aspect of the needs of a medical recruit and his family, including immigration, banking, accounting, real estate, schooling and lots more. He has a great network and links with highly skilled and helpful professionals in all of these highlighted areas that are necessary for settling into a new job and community. He was able to link us up with solid professionals in all these aspects to ease our relocation to Canada. I would recommend him mostly highly and without reservation to any potential physician or other recruit.

The CanAm team clearly have the experience and expertise to assist physicians seeking licensure and employment in Canada. It is well known that Canada remains one of the more challenging countries for IMGs who are looking to practice, despite the country’s well known huge demand and shortage of qualified physicians. The route is paved with obstacles often deemed insurmountable. I am glad to say that my initial 2 hour long phone consultation with Mr Philpott, allowed me to elucidate some of these obstacles. The team offer a case based approach which is probably the most valuable aspect of the service they offer. The website offers a webinar, entitled ‘How to Practice in Canada’, which outlines the process. The cost of this was kindly waved in addition to the 2 hour phone consultation with John. The complexities of the process wouldn’t allow for a generic pathway. CanAM physician recruiting are clearly very knowledgeable and sufficiently resourceful to offer a tailored, individualised passage through the Canadian licensing labyrinth. I have no reservations in strongly recommending John Philpott and his team of experts to all International Medical graduates, and Canadian graduates alike, who have made the educated decision of wanting to practice their craft in Canada.

I have to say that it was worth dealing with all the paperwork to get the Sask License. The last 7 weeks was fantastic. I have sooooo many great pictures that it is difficult to make a photo album without making it boringly long. I am on call now, so I am not travelling anywhere this weekend, but I drove more than 7000 km in the area already. The Rockies are amazing, the local flora and fauna is wonderful, fishing is great. Two days ago I caught a pike weighing 6 pound seven ounces in addition to a 2 pound walleye, a couple weeks earlier another walleye and a few perches, so I did not have any difficulty supplying my kitchen with fish. The job was pleasant, with the exception of one bad weekend I never felt tired. I would not mind coming back here if they happen to need locum services in the future. I plan on staying in Cyprus till about mid December, but plans do change.
